Nicki Minaj vs. Cardi B

Many interesting headlines have circulated the music world this summer, from spontaneous album releases, unfortunate deaths (Mac Miller & Aretha Franklin), and beef. The most recent beef is rappers Onika Tanya Maraj (Nicki Minaj) and Belcalis Almanzar (Cardi B).

Allegedly, the beef has been brewing since last year and finally boiling over the previous week at Harper's Bazaar ICONS Party. According to Cardi B, what initiated the fight was Nicki Minaj speaking down upon Cardi's parenting skills and her daughter, Kulture. Cardi B threw a shoe, and expletives were exchanged, but things were handled swiftly. At the party, no blows were exchanged (thank security).

Since the scuffle, both women have made statements addressing what happened. Cardi B made an Instagram post explaining herself, while Nicki Minaj used her podcast, Queen Radio, as her outlet.

Nicki Minaj denies all claims that she never spoke ill about Cardi B’s child or parenting skills. “I would never speak on anyone’s child, and it’s sad someone would pin that on me because I’m the bad guy, and people would believe them,” she states. During her rant on her radio show, she also says that the whole experience mortified her. She felt that the particular moment and event wasn’t the place to act like that.

Hopefully, everything will blow over, and the two rappers will put their differences aside and focus on creating. They have dropped albums this year, Queen (Nicki Minaj) and Invasion of Privacy (Cardi B). They’ve only collaborated once (Motorsport), but that particular song went triple platinum (RIAA) and peaked at number six on the US Billboard Top 100
