Atlantic Station: Change

Atlantic Station has been a buzzing district in Midtown Atlanta, GA, since 2005. While it’s grown a lot since it first opened, there have been many changes since then that have shaped it into what it is today.

Originally built on the old Atlantic Steel Mill site that opened in 1901, Atlantic Station was created with the vision of being an outdoor mall with dining and entertainment (Regal movie theater). The original idea behind it was to invite a younger crowd along with a plan for reducing air pollution by allowing people to live and work within walking distance of most everyday necessities.

In its 13th year, Atlantic Station is about to have another considerable makeover. IN 2015, Atlantic Station's retail core was officially sold to Hines Interest Limited Partnership. Hines has launched a few new projects that have already begun taking form. First, two new office buildings are being built (timber-framed).

Also, a new embassy suite hotel with fine-dining options to go along with it. Lastly, there are more condominiums, not just condominiums, but luxurious ones. They are slated to be some of the more expensively priced in the city.

What does all of this mean for Atlantic Station? Change is coming, and it’s coming fast! A majority of the projects are set to be completed by 2020. That only allows a year and a half of preparation for the new and improved Atlantic Station.

Here are a few of the new and proposed looks here:

With all these changes set to take place, the real question is, are you ready? Check back later for more updates and timetables of the projects.
